چکیده

\emph{Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer} all-sky survey has discovered a new population of hot dust-obscured galaxies (Hot DOGs), which been confirmed to be dusty quasars. Previous statistical studies have found significant overdensities sub-millimeter and mid-IR selected around Hot DOGs, indicating they may reside in dense regions. Here we present the near-infrared ($J$ $K_s$ bands) observations over $7.5'\times 7.5'$ field centered on DOG W1835$+$4355 at $z \sim 2.3$ using wide-field infrared camera Palomar 200-inch telescope. We use color criterion $J-K_s>2.3$ for objects with $K_s<20$, select Distant Red Galaxies (DRGs). find excess number density DRGs compared three control fields, by factor about 2. The overdensity red are consistent multi-wavelength environment suggesting that DOGs good tracer regions high redshift. do not densest region traced itself. A possible scenario is undergoing merging process, lowers local its surrounding region.

The Environments of Hyperluminous Infrared Galaxies at 0.44 < Z < 1.55 the Environments of Hyperluminous Infrared Galaxies at 0.44 < Z < 1.55

We present deep wide-field Ks-band observations of six Hyperluminous Infrared Galaxies (HLIRGs) spanning a redshift range 0.44 < z < 1.55. The sample resides in a wide variety of environments, from the field to Abell 2 clusters, with a mean galaxy–HLIRG clustering amplitude of 〈Bgh〉 = 190 ± 45 Mpc . The range in environments, and the mean clustering level, are both greater than those seen in lo...

Infrared Luminosities and Dust Properties of Z ≈ 2 Dust-obscured Galaxies

We present SHARC-II 350μm imaging of twelve 24μm-bright (F24μm > 0.8 mJy) Dust-Obscured Galaxies (DOGs) and CARMA 1mm imaging of a subset of 2 DOGs. These objects are selected from the Boötes field of the NOAO Deep Wide-Field Survey. Detections of 4 DOGs at 350μm imply infrared (IR) luminosities which are consistent to within a factor of 2 of expectations based on a warm dust spectral energy di...

The Pedigrees of DOGs (Dust-Obscured Galaxies)

A simple mid-infrared to optical color criterion of R − [24] ≥ 14 results in a robust selection of approximately half of the z ∼ 2 ultraluminous infrared galaxy (ULIRG) population. These ‘Dust-Obscured Galaxies’, or DOGs, have various properties that suggest that they are good candidates for systems in a transition phase between gas-rich mergers and QSOs.

An Overdensity of Extremely Red Objects Around Faint Mid-IR galaxies

We have searched for Extremely Red Objects (EROs) around faint mid-IR selected galaxies in ELAIS fields. We find a significant overdensity, by factors of 2 to 5, of these EROs compared to field EROs in the same region and literature random field ERO counts. The excess is similar to that found previously in the fields of known high redshift quasars and AGN. While with the present data it cannot ...

Far-infrared constraints on the contamination by dust-obscured galaxies of high-z dropout searches

The spectral energy distributions (SED) of dusty galaxies at intermediate redshift may look similar to very high-redshift galaxies in the optical/near infrared (NIR) domain. This can lead to the contamination of high-redshift galaxy searches based on broad-band optical/NIR photometry by lower redshift dusty galaxies because both kind of galaxies cannot be distinguished. The contamination rate c...
